Kusawa Lake Campground presents stunning mountain views, and with binoculars you may see Dall Sheep on the surrounding mountains. Kusawa Lake is popular for boating, fishing and hiking. The campground is located in a pine and spruce forest along the edge of Kusawa Lake. The campground consists of 3 separate loops, all of which have shoreline access. There is a playground, boat launch, docks and separate boat trailer parking available. The lower Takhini River begins at Kusawa Lake, and many kayakers and canoeists launch their river journey at the campground. The Tlingit name Kùsawu.â* means “narrow lake” while the lake’s Southern Tutchone name Nekhų Män, “rafting across lake,” refers to its narrowest point where people could easily cross.
