This park's rolling hills and deep ridges are all that remain of the glaciers that once covered this area. Despite being a mere 20 minutes away from Winnipeg, the aspen and oak parkland and native prairie provide an ideal habitat for wildlife like deer, waterfowl, and songbirds. In addition to being a natural habitat for wildlife, Birds Hill is a natural gathering place for people. It is home to one of North America's largest folk music events, the Winnipeg Folk Festival, as well as to a range of other year-round recreational activities and sporting events. Paved and natural surface trails enable cyclists, rollerblade enthusiasts, hikers, and cross-country skiers to weave their way through the park.
